The mission
of the OVCA Athletic Department
is to build the physical skills, encourage the spiritual
lives, and develop the character of our students
by means of a
competitive athletic program administered in a
caring Christian environment.
Athletics are an important part of OVCA
High School. We believe that our athletes are representatives
of our school, and thus should strive to honor God
on and off the field. The goal of our athletic department
is to compete to the best of our abilities with
integrity. OVCA students compete in several CIF sanctioned
sports including: Football, Volleyball, Basketball,
Soccer, Baseball, and Softball.
OVCA offers a very unique experience for a small
school, offering every possible field and court
for the practice and play of our teams-plus locker
rooms and a weight room. Not only is this an issue
of convenience, it also gives each player a sense
of pride in their team and school, elevating their
overall scholastic experience.

Winter Sports
This year the varsity Patriot basketball teams looked
to improve on last year's records, and enjoy the thrills
of an exciting season. Well we can now chalk-up victories
on all fronts as the boys finished at 16-5, making
it to the quarterfinals of the San Diego CIF Division
5 playoffs, and our young girls' team improving on
their record as well.
Honors were also bestowed upon several of our scholar-athletes, including First Team All-League awards to Da'rell Andrews; Second Team recipients Miss Stormi Stecher, Zack Balich, and Jesse Johnson; and an Honorable Mention for freshman Brianda Figueroa. On the academic side, seniors Da'rell Andrews, Jared Johnson, and juniors Zack Balich, Jesse Johnson, Miss Jessica Haenisch, and Miss Jenna Rodriguez, were all named to their respective San Diego Union Tribune All-Academic teams.
The Junior High teams both reached SONrise League playoff matchups, and our 4th-6th graders are enjoying competitive team play as well. We are thankful to all of our parents for allowing their children to get involved in athletics at OVCA, and commend the hard work and dedication of our students.
GO PATRIOTS!
